Getting Back to Routine
I love the break of summer, but I love the feeling of getting back into the routine of the school year. For one thing, my fitness schedule is much less haphazard. I go from working out whenever I can squeeze it in to working out at a set time. The school routine also helps keep healthy eating on track; rather than eating a late lunch here or an early dinner there, we're much more likely to keep to scheduled eating times, which helps stabilize everything.
This is also the time of year when all of our activities get into full swing -- fall sports, band concerts, Board meetings, etc. It makes life crazy and hectic at times, but our busy schedule also forces me to plan ahead when it comes to meals...and we all know by now that planning ahead usually means much healthier choices.
So even though it's hard to say goodbye to beach days and that feeling of "we can do whatever we feel like doing today," it's nice to embrace the structure and rhythm of a new school year.
Structure is definitely nice.
I like when my day is filled up. It makes me feel extra productive!

Plus, as much as we adore and cherish them, it's nice to have the kids in school, lol!

Structure is definitely nice, Kaolee. Sort of how I always seem to get more done when I'm busy. When I have all the time in the world, nothing gets done.
Alyssa, you said what I was thinking! A friend of mine who has a kindergartener was worried yesterday that she was a bad mother because she DIDN'T cry when her kid got on the bus for the first time. As much as we love them, a break from each other can be a good thing.
